Hey there Direct Sales business owner! Have you discovered the hidden treasure in your home to help make your direct sales business more efficient and fun? No, I don’t mean you need to break out the shovel and start drilling in the concrete in your basement. I’m talking about the hidden treasure of your children and discovering how they can help your direct sales business soar…. and also how you can help them to start learning entrepreneurial skills even at very young ages!

Now, I know what some of you are thinking. Is she nuts? I can barely get Johnny to clean up his socks let alone help me with my business! And, more than likely that’s true when you first start involving your children in your direct sales business. But let’s talk about some of benefits of considering this little labor force from both your standpoint as well as Johnny’s.

The child benefits from having time with you while you still benefit from getting work done. Let’s face it. We’ve all been there… knowing that our business to do list is two million pages long and Johnny is pulling on your skirt asking you to play or go outside with him. So why not make the most of the situation for both of you and give Johnny time with you while you still get work done? Let him work WITH you on some of your business tasks that have to get done anyway.

The child benefits by learning basic business skills and you benefit by getting the more mundane jobs done without having to hire someone so you can focus on the other jobs. Let Johnny do some simple tasks, like putting labels on hostess packets, stamping catalogs, stuffing envelopes, licking envelopes, sorting money (yes real money) and more. Take a few minutes to teach him how to do these simple tasks and then put him to work next to you while you update your spreadsheet, check your emails, write your newsletter and more.

The child benefits by learning to take ownership of and appreciate your direct sales business and you benefit by the encouragement that ownership will bring you each time you need to leave home to do a direct sales party. By being involved in your business with you, Johnny will naturally be more understanding of why mommy has to go ff to another party or spend another hour on the computer. He’ll appreciate what you do and grow in desire to help you more as well.

The child benefits by learning responsibility and you benefit by turning more and more jobs over to him as he grows. As the years go on, Johnny will grow older and more capable of taking on increasing responsibility. Before you know it, he will be updating your spreadsheets, writing your newsletters and balancing the business books which will free you up to concentrate on business building activities like customer care calls, booking calls and recruit interviews.

The child benefits by earning a good income working from home while you benefit by keeping the family money in the family. Why pay an assistant to do something when you can pay Johnny to do many of the jobs you would normally outsource and get some fabulous tax benefits at the same time.

The child benefits by developing entrepreneurial skills and you benefit by seeing your child grow up into a business owner rather than an employee. When you start Johnny out young working with you in your direct sales business, the skills he will learn will serve him for a lifetime. Chances are he will be so convinced that having his own business is the way to go, he will either continue on in your success line when old enough, or start another home business on his own.

So give it a try. Start small if you have young ones and if you’re kids are already in the pre-teen years, they can already be providing you some great help in your business.
