Do you have a hard time making decisions? When given a choice of A,B,C, and D—can you choose easily? I ask this question because I have found that having to make choices can sometimes be paralyzing for many of us.

I was having dinner recently with a small group of friends and the waiter had to keep coming back to our table as people could not make a decision on their dinner choices—house salad or Caesar? Steak or Chicken, Rice or Baked potato? We become fearful about making decisions, even simple ones, as we want to make the “perfect” choice.

Our Country allows us many choices. We can do just about anything we choose to do if it’s something that we truly want. Why do so many of us stay right where we are? I believe it’s fear. Fear of taking the Risk—Ahhh, there it is again—Risk. Fear of the unknown. We want a guarantee that our choice will be exactly the right one for us.

There have been times in my life when I “sat on the fence” of choice. And I sat there and I sat there. Then I figured out the 3 E’s in making choices: Explore, Evaluate and Execute. I explore my possible choices, I evaluate which one is a good fit for me and my lifestyle, and then I execute a plan to make it happen.

How about you? Are you stuck? Is there a decision that you need to make and you just can’t seem to get your arms around a choice? Have you explored all of your options? Which one seems to work best for your lifestyle? What’s the plan to make it happen? In my Women’s Learning Circles, women make the choice to explore, evaluate, and execute. They create a plan of action that will support them in realizing their dreams and goals.

In 5 days, on February 5th, we each have the opportunity to make a choice. Our own personal choice. In California, as well as many other states across the country, we get to choose who we personally would like to lead our great nation into the next phase of where we are going. It does not matter which choice you make. What matters is that you choose.

Many of the women I talk to in my community find education, healthcare, and the environment to be of high importance moving forward. What’s important to you? What are your values? I invite you to get your calendar out right now and make some time next Tuesday to make your personal choice.
