I began my career as an Early Childhood Educator which led to a job working with a little boy who was deaf and autistic. To accept the position I had to agree to learn Sign Language. I went on to work with deaf and hard-of-hearing children and adults in a variety of settings. In 1988 I was invited to facilitate a parenting course for deaf parents. Educating parents fit perfectly into what had been doing before and helped me be a better parent to my young family. After several years of following curriculums I started designing my own workshops. For seventeen years I have been working with parents in groups, privately and online. In 2002 I began training as a life coach and incorporated it with my background in parent education. I worked with a business coach who inspired me to set up a website and call it www.theparentingcoach.com. I knew I had found my life purpose. I have been married for twenty-one years and have two adult, step-sons and two teenagers.
