Waiting all December long for Christmas day can be quite a challenge for a child. Do you remember how hard it was to wait for Santa as a kid? Here are some great Christmas activities to keep the kids busy until the big day. These are great ways to enjoy the anticipation and waiting for Santa together as a family.

Make Christmas Cards With The Kids

Instead of buying a box of holiday cards at the store, let the kids make the Christmas cards this year. All you need is some construction paper, some markers or crayons and maybe some Christmas stickers. Fold the construction paper in half and let the little artists get to work. Just add a little note to each and send them off to family and friends. These personalized cards will be a big hit this season.

Write A Letter To Santa

If you are still wondering what your child really wants for Christmas, have them write a letter to Santa. You can do the writing for younger kids. Older kids can of course do their own writing. It’s a great way to get your child to practice. Have them draw or color a special picture for Santa as well and stick both the letter and picture in an envelope. Address it to Santa and take it out to the mailbox together. (You can sneak out there later and take it back out before the mailman gets there).

What would a letter to Santa be without a response? Write a special note from the big guy on some holiday paper, or use one of the many online Santa Letter services.

Pick A Christmas Tree Together

What would Christmas be without a tree? Make it a family tradition to go out and pick a tree together. You can take the kids out to one of the many tree lots, or even go to a Christmas tree farm, or a state park that lets you cut your own tree for a small fee. What could be more fun than to spend a December afternoon stomping through the woods looking for the tree that’s just right for your family?

Throw a Kid Christmas Party

Christmas parties are pretty common for adults. There’s the party at work, a neighborhood get-together etc., but what about the kids? Allow your child to invite a few close friends over for an afternoon of cookies, hot chocolate and some Christmas crafting. Play some holiday music and you’re all set. The kids will love being able to take a small craft they made home.
