Raising any teenager can be tough, but raising a defiant teenager is especially difficult. It’s like a slap in the face to see the sweet child you raised morph into an angry, defiant teenager before your very eyes. Who is this person – this teenager screaming at you across the dinner table? What did you do to deserve such aggression and hostility? And, most importantly, what should you do? Should you ignore the behavior? Yell and scream yourself? Run away and hide until they are 30 and the phase has passed? While there’s no one right answer, I’m hoping that the suggestions in this article will help to make dealing with your defiant teenager just a little bit easier. Full Article

daughter is graduating from high school in a few short weeks.
Because we don’t normally throw big parties for our kids, we

I am the mother of an almost 20-yr-old daughter. It has been a
joy to watch her grow up and see the worldly woman she has
become. Worldly, that is, in the sense that she is ready to go
out and make her mark on the world and there is nothing holding
her back. Some people are born with more adventurous spirits
than others, but I think parents have a lot to do with
influencing their teen’s view of the world through introducing
them to a number of enriching experiences throughout their teen
years. Full Article

When your children are young, you mean the world, or better the entire universe to them. So, how do we go from being the sun and the moon, to being the cricket and the mouse? When we talk to them as teenagers, all they seem to hear is chirp-chirp-chirp and squeak-squeak-squeak. If this sounds like your teenager, here are a few ways that you can form a meaningful relationship with them and get them to actually hear what you are saying. Full Article
