How to Recruit While Maintaining Your Own Business

If you are in a Party Plan or MLM type business, I am sure that your company encourages you to recruit. Some Companies may even require it. But to make sure you are doing your business a good thing, you have to look to your own business first before helping others with their business.

It is important for you and your business to make sure you are a success and solid in your customer base. You need time to understand your new business fully and the policies and procedures of the company before you can assist others in the same. Growing your customer base so you are earning money from them is first and foremost as that is your bread and butter.

So how do we do that?

~Establish yourself in your community, whether it be online or offline. I recommend being visible in both arenas so you will have overflow from one to another and be earning money regardless of your focus.
~ Be a resource, not just an ad blaster
~ Do charitable events
~ Do community events and be involved locally like with the PTA, Sporting Clubs and churches
~ Get out and be seen, virtually and physically.

WHY? Because you want to grow your customer base. You want to grow your expertise. As you grow your expertise, it is easier to recruit as people want to be involved with an upline that is knowledgeable and helpful.

Recruiting is a mentoring process. It is not a sign here and never be heard from again process. So I ask you, if you do not know your chosen business well, how can you mentor someone else? Do you not need to be fair and honest with them?

You know if your business is one that you want to share with others, so prepare yourself. By waiting 3 months or so before recruiting you can give yourself time to find out about the company. Find out about recruiting. Find out and gather information to share with your recruits. In the mean time, you have been growing your own business. You are in a better position to mentor someone and share information that they will need. You will be able to Lead by example.

As your downline grows, you will be able to do meetings, conference calls, start yahoo groups or your own website to assist your downline. Scheduling your time will be critical to maintaining your business as well as your downline’s. Set office hours so they know when they can talk to you. Utilize your Upline as well. Learn from him or her. Watch and duplicate and your business and your whole team will be successful. And that is the name of the game!
